Just now saw a picture of the rebooted Amanda Waller -- here's a link, which leads to a comic book rendering of a thin, young, conventionally attractive woman in a cleavage shirt and glossy red lipstick. Also she appears to be smiling somewhat vacantly.

The problem is ALSO NOT that they had to make her paperform somehow match the movie-form. The PROBLEM is that they didn't have the movie-version looking a damn thing like the paper/canon form in the first place. They could have cast a number of actresses with the gravitas, bodysize and affinity for natural hair. They didn't.

Yeah, I saw that excuse floating around. It is bullshit. From all I hear, the GL movie was a disaster, and no one cares if the comics match the movies anyway, or else a hell of a lot more about the DCU would have been altered every time a movie comes out. It is a justification that is occasionally paraded in the face of bullshit, but I believe that what's actually going on is, whatever, we do what we want.
