but it appears you have learned the lesson well! )

*Or maybe it was Babs? Fanfic suggests Babs is also a likely teacher of such things.

As we saw in the last installment of What If... Magneto And Professor X Eloped To A Tropical Island? removed from any impertinent questions like "But, isn't he a registered terrorist" or "But, didn't he try to wipe your mind a couple times," Charles and Erik have been living in frighteningly domestic bliss. Unfortunately, the outside Marvelverse will *insist* on intruding eventually (most lately in the form of Erik's daughter loosing a few more of her marbles and killing some friends, you know how it goes), and we're quickly reminded that theirs is a relationship that has difficulty surviving exposure to things like politics, inlaws, non-mutual friends, alien abductions, alien visitations, out of body experiences, cloning debates, personal history, world history, mutual friends, past arguments, alternate future arguments, funny hats, UN council meetings, attempted homicide, successful homicide, successful suicide, ferrous metal, the colour purple, and, it wouldn't surprise me, oxygen.

Context for today's episode: Erik has, at this point, rescued Wanda from the unreasoning hordes that would prefer her to seek professional help, dealt with his 'too many clothes' problem, and asked Charles to fix her back up again. Charles, of course, tried to do the good step-parent thing and agreed.

Now, one would think this situation would end in a mega crossover event happy family bonding moments, but it seems that repairing a woman with power over reality is harder than it looks, and so we have Erik being broody and passive aggressive instead.

Charles is aware that things aren't going as smoothly as he'd like, and goes to Dr. Strange for help... putting Strange in the unenviable position of having to give advice to a friend who's back in an obviously unhealthy relationship that ended in tears, blood, and genocide the first time around.

Somehow, Strange manages to keep his thoughts on the matter to himself, but (especially considering Charles *is* the world's premier telepath here) it's certainly not for lack of trying. )

One of these days, the creative minds involved in the Charles/Erik relationship are going to forget to fade to black, I swear. (In fact, depending on how traumatized I'd like to be just then, I'm occasionally convinced this *already happened*.)

One of the more surprising things about my last post here was that some people weren't prepared for the level of Charles/Erik domesticity. So I thought I'd put it in context.

Or out of context, as the case may very well be. )

[Sometimes I am sad that my Excalibur summaries were stuck from the internets. But I remembered I could fix that! This one originally posted on March 28, 2005.]

I... hesitate to use the word spoilers for this post, because although the comic came out less than a week ago, the whole of Excalibur v3 so far has been Claremont's attempt to resurrect the noble traditions of the silver age.

That is, a spoiler warning implies you'll be spoiled for something, which implies plot, which implies a logical sequence of events, and... I really don't want to give that impression. Anyway.

I'm. Too sexy for my hat. Too sexy for my shirt. So sexy it hurts. )

I debated adding the second page of this scene, because my sense of humour tends to degrade when I'm tired, and I was afraid I'd scar everybody with any bukkake jokes comments I might provide. But, you know, I'm sure the people reading this could have come up with better ones *anyway*.

So, the new R.E.B.E.L.S. series...

I am, as will shock no one, entirely prepared to be excited about a series following the adventures of Vril Dox II. I have been *practising*. But then we get stuff like spoiler )

Wasn't Tony Bedard* assigned to Oracle for a while? Admittedly for a while when I wasn't reading Birds of Prey, but I can see no way this ended well.

Well, I didn't completely fail this evening, which has left me a little bewildered. I mean, not in a bad way.... Shrug.
                                    not
So since getting back from ^ bombing my final, I've been sorting through some folders studying for CompSci, and I came across this:

Is that supposed to be *subtext?* I really can't tell anymore. )

Which made me stare for a moment. But you know, the more I come across the Ultimate X-men line, the more I realize I really don't like it at all. Although I've felt the same way about the regular x-men titles and in fact most titles in general for a while, so it's possible it's me.

(Pats Sandman TPBs. Although I still like *you.* And you too, weird assed miniseries.)

Hmm. Maybe I need a new medium. Due South's been going around my list like the chickenpox, so maybe I should expose myself and get it over with. Or HP's always popular, and there's no dearth of porn for any wacky/disturbing/obscure pairing you can think of. Do you think I'm trying to tell myself something, if I only get interested in pairings that no one writes for? Um. Like, possibly, "girl, you have issues"?

Because I know that already. I've got them arranged on my bookshelf by colour, and there's sticky notes in some of them from that time I tried to psychoanalyze the themes of Superman.
More picture spam! )

I'm sorry, but I found it inordinately funny.

You know, somebody needs to write a Good Omens thing along those lines. I'm just saying...

I gave in and bought The Dream Hunters. I guess I figured that I wouldn't mind the overpriciness so much if I got it while buying textbooks.

You know, with logic like that, it's a wonder I can buy textbooks.

Anyway, it struck me afterwards how Dream always seems to look like himself, no matter how he's drawn. Perhaps because the character isn't supposed to be outwardly stable?

Lookit the pretty picture. )

(Cool book, but it bugged me that I couldn't find his ruby. He has a purple stone, but it's purple.)

Also, if you really want to be entertained, go read some Bush quotes. They're all over the place, but there's some here and here and here.

So I abandon my computer for a few hours, and now I'm full of strange posts. This one is going to be full of pictures. Yes, from 1602. Yes, and then I shall shut up about it.

See? Pretty. I have just cause to be bouncy.
