In the Phase and Proton series by Piers Anthony, it was possible.

Wait, for serious, a centaur and and android have kids? If this is true, I think I need this book on general principle!

I think it was a shapeshifter (but she was a centaur at one point. . .been years since I read the books) and an android, along with a human and an android in the original series as well.
