In which I do not complain about being kept up until 3am. Because I'm magnanimous like that.
I drank way too much coffee this morning. I suppose this is a good thing, as I made it through my exam without falling asleep, but it completely disrupted my plans to celebrate by collapsing in bed until about tomorrow.
So, instead of a nap, a Drabble With Names In. Sandman, on account of I told myself that I had done quite enough in that fandom for awhile.
Goodly Gifts
William lifts his pen and reads the words.
“Aye,” he whispers. “Did I write this?”
But the handwriting is his own, and his mind is light with accomplishment.
Last night there was wine, and a conversation evaporating now from his mind like dreams under sunlight. A pale man, eyes ever in shadow, who spoke of poetry and doors. And a price.
But there is a price for all things, and success least of all. Be it to muse or devil, William can afford two plays - a dream and an awakening. He has stories enough now to drown the world.
