  • You'll make the most reliable judgement of people by watching how they treat those under them, not how they treat their peers or superiors.
  • When you die, your last cheque should bounce. That is, you can't take it with you. While it's good to make sure that you'll be secure for your retirement/old age/whatever, don't forget that you have to live today. Enjoy your life.
  • The older you get, the easier it gets to believe that the only opinions you have to care about are your own and those of the people you love. About how you dress, about the music you like, about the fandoms you're in. But try starting to believe it now - you can save yourself a lot of angst.
  • Put it back, where and how you found it. (One from my lab equipment room - true for students, but even more true for the other teachers).
