(no subject)

Due to sequence of car failures, I'm currently stuck in a Canadian Shack vacation home with nothing but wine and internet access, all my WIPs in storage.

Considering what I had at hand, I first attempted to pass the time by spilling the wine on my laptop. However, while invigorating, this activity didn't keep me occupied for more than a few minutes.

So I turn once again, oh wise and mighty internet people, to drabble requests!

Today's theme is femslash. Again, but it was fun. Give me a couple characters (who are female, because duh), and I'll write you something about them. Anyone I know is fair game, so... a lot of the DCU, Sandman, Good Omens, New Who, House, etc., etc.... anyone I might have wibbled about.

Be warned that I may or may not get wine on them.

Death/Lily Evans.

. . . assuming, of course, crossovers are allowed. :D

The images that pull at the corners of her memory are wonderful, awful, beautiful... and entirely less important than the softness of Death's black painted lip as Lily traces it with her thumb; "I wouldn't have ran so hard," Lily whispers, "if I knew you were so beautiful."

Death/Lady Death.

Martha knew she was an excellent student, but she was turning out to be crap as a teacher.

Tutoring physics had sounded straight-forward when she had volunteered, and Rose seemed attentive enough: staring intently into Martha's eyes as Martha spoke, and smiling when Martha let enthusiasm bleed into the explanation, and tapping her pencil thoughtfully against her thick, pouty lips... But every time Martha tried to review the concepts with her, the words seemed to have fluttered through the aether without even touching her brain on the way.

Halfway through their third appointment, Rose still couldn't decide the difference between potential and kinetic energy, and Martha couldn't decide if she was having any effect on the girl whatsoever.

"Look, Rose," Martha said, covering one of Rose's hands with her own. "I know this is hard, but you're smart. You can do it."

Rose stared down at Martha's fingers. She shifted in her seat, but she didn't pull her arm away. "It's not important," she muttered. "It's just physics."

"Physics *is* important!" said Martha, although she had personally always been more drawn to the biological sciences. She racked her brain for encouraging declarations about physics. "It'll show you the world," she finally said. "It'll teach you the universe."

"I don't care about all that," Rose told her, shifting closer to her. "I'm not going to uni, you know, or anywhere exciting. I've got to take care of my mum."

Rose looked at her with big, earnest eyes, and didn't break the stare until Martha glanced down at the textbook spread between them. "But I'm here for you, Rose," she said. "You could be getting so much more from these sessions." Rose blushed slightly, but she didn't say anything. She seemed nervous: Her wide lips were pressed together, her breathing heavy. Her hand twitched underneath Martha's own. "What is it?" Martha asked.

Or tried to ask, or would have asked, except that Rose had leaned across the space between them and kissed her.

Rose's lips were mildly chapped, and they tasted like cheap fruit-flavoured lip gloss. She pulled back after a moment, pausing to whisper into Martha's hair. "I know."

Martha flipped the textbook shut, and Rose startled at the loud thump of old papers slamming together. They stared at each other for a few long seconds, and then Martha slowly began to grin.

Martha had always preferred the biological studies, after all. If Rose didn't want the secrets of the universe, there were other lessons she could teach.
