I have AIM now, and I'm only slightly afraid to use it!

Well, okay. Maybe a bit more afraid than that. Point is, I may wander around my flist grabbing people to fill up my sadly empty buddy list, and then. Um. I get stuck at that bit, because I am not used to my fannish interactions being in real time.

What if I can't think of anything witty to say on the spot, I worry, and then everyone will realize they don't really like me after all!

To which I reply, Don't worry about that. Most of the time you can't think of anything witty to say after five hours of thinking and a good night's sleep, and then I feel better. Only not.

So, yes. I kind of wish I had joined up before, if only so that I could have a better screen name. After trying about fifty other things, I'm signed up as flightykaren.

AIM! so stressful! After you have both said hello, what do you say next!? Except uh, I made a stunning entrance to the world of instant messaging where I lost my chat box and couldn't find it again for twenty minutes and they had to send out the dogs. So don't worry! There's always uh. Someone more incompetent!
