I want more info on these icons! What is the source of “Who let in all these women” and “your reign of annoyance is through!” and “My crap-writing sense is burning!” and “Television. It's like Youtube for old people” and “Oh, you're so impudent in a studly, genius way,” and … no wait, that's it.

[identity profile] odditycollector.livejournal.com 2009-03-15 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Betty, you are supposed to *divine* it! Or something! ;)

A, respectively: Minus (http://www.kiwisbybeat.com/minus120.html), Teddy Scares (http://www.teddyscares.com/), Teddy Scares, Runaways, Teddy Scares again!

[identity profile] jarodrussell.livejournal.com 2009-03-15 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Television is like YouTube for old people."

Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

[identity profile] odditycollector.livejournal.com 2009-03-15 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
And the reality shows are an attempt to get the youth back y/y? Look! We can showcase dumbasses in their natural environment almost as well!

[identity profile] jarodrussell.livejournal.com 2009-03-15 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought YouTube was the dumbasses' natural environment.

[identity profile] dine.livejournal.com 2009-03-15 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
can I snag a couple? I've completely fallen for "I'm never going to get used to this century" and "there are so many things wrong with that statement ..."

[identity profile] dine.livejournal.com 2009-03-15 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
thank you SO much! you make wonderfully intriguing icons

[identity profile] odditycollector.livejournal.com 2009-03-15 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
My secret: carefully clipping other people's brilliance! Do not tell!

[identity profile] kimberly-t.livejournal.com 2009-03-15 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Several good ones here! (Really should check out that Sinfest comic; that's not the first time I've seen icons that people have said are from it.) The one I want to snag for my LJ is the one of dollar bills flying away--it's too bloody appropriate, too often!

So, who's the woman in the 3-icon series, in the Titanic-reminiscent pose? And the next icon after that... is that Zoe from Firefly?

[identity profile] odditycollector.livejournal.com 2009-03-15 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
's yours! And sinfest is indeed an excellent icon generator.

Actually, all 4 of those are Liandra from a page of Fallen Angel. It's a series written (unfortunately) by Peter David, but the pretty pictures are by J.K. Woodward.

[identity profile] caia-comica.livejournal.com 2009-03-15 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh fuck. I was just going to ask about those Liandra pics in the hopes that I could go be her #1 fangirl.

[identity profile] odditycollector.livejournal.com 2009-03-15 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, sorry :\

The series managed to finish *before* PAD bought his first class tickets for the failboat, so I am mentally filing it with YJ as 'there is no mental conflict if I am not actively following it atm lalala'.

(OTOH, I have been known to pick up books by Orson Scott Card ETA: and Dave Sim /ETA occasionally, so it may be a case of compartmentalization: my secret power. )

[identity profile] caia-comica.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm not worried about anything about PAD I've already read, but I now will feel odd about going and hunting down things that I haven't read already.

But compartmentalization is good. I am def. down with the theory that "It's not what the author says elsewhere, it's what's IN THE TEXT."

...I'm still not capable of reading Dave Sim. Or Orson Scott Card, but that's actually more that the last few things I read by him just Weren't Very Good.

[identity profile] odditycollector.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
I once saw a preview of a semi-recent book by Card. OMG it was terrible. See also: his Iron Man. But his early stuff, that seems pretty good what I've read.

I wish PAD had either kept his mouth shut or been more willing to listen... like you said about the hunting stuff down, it'll be impossible to read new stuff or rec old stuff without the fail colouring it in an ugly fashion. But his writing, it is still *good*. Dammit :S

...I guess that's a common sentiment around RaceFail. Swap out PAD's name for a list.

IMO, Card definitely did have an early, better period, although you can see the origins of the stuff that would later take over his work.

Although that's also when he wrote the tentacoo wape, so.

[identity profile] stevegreen.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Hate to whinge, but can you break up the rows a little? It's really screwing with the margins on my screen.

[identity profile] odditycollector.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, sure, sorry. On mine it wraps automatically, so I didn't think it'd be a problem...

(What browser are you using, just out of curiousity?)

[identity profile] stevegreen.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
IE.

Much better now, thanks.

[identity profile] odditycollector.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
How's that?

[identity profile] badficwriter.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
I want all of them. Can I have all of them? My insanejournal account has 100 icon spaces!

But, seriously, I'd like the first Wonderella.

[identity profile] odditycollector.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! If you want, I can momentarily look the other way... ;)

Do you mind sharing the Wonderella icon with [livejournal.com profile] thefourthvine? I got a little bit mixed up with comment order. Either way, you are welcome to it.

[identity profile] badficwriter.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
As long as she doesn't mind another woman having the same dress as her!

[identity profile] thefourthvine.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
I would love the "See? Privileged whites can make a difference!" and "Pirates = Bad." (Actually, I would love many of them. But those most of all!)

[identity profile] odditycollector.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Sure, all yours! (And if you have cravings later, I'm sure there'll be leftovers ;)

ETA: Sorry, I read this one before [livejournal.com profile] badficwriter's comment. "Pirates = Bad." is all for you, and I'll ask her if she wants to share the Wonderella one...

[identity profile] odditycollector.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[livejournal.com profile] badficwriter says she is fine with sharing the "See? Privileged whites can make a difference!" icon, as long as you don't mind, as she says, "another woman having the same dress"!
