Several good ones here! (Really should check out that Sinfest comic; that's not the first time I've seen icons that people have said are from it.) The one I want to snag for my LJ is the one of dollar bills flying away--it's too bloody appropriate, too often!

So, who's the woman in the 3-icon series, in the Titanic-reminiscent pose? And the next icon after that... is that Zoe from Firefly?

's yours! And sinfest is indeed an excellent icon generator.

Actually, all 4 of those are Liandra from a page of Fallen Angel. It's a series written (unfortunately) by Peter David, but the pretty pictures are by J.K. Woodward.

Oh fuck. I was just going to ask about those Liandra pics in the hopes that I could go be her #1 fangirl.

Yeah, sorry :\

The series managed to finish *before* PAD bought his first class tickets for the failboat, so I am mentally filing it with YJ as 'there is no mental conflict if I am not actively following it atm lalala'.

(OTOH, I have been known to pick up books by Orson Scott Card ETA: and Dave Sim /ETA occasionally, so it may be a case of compartmentalization: my secret power. )

Yeah, I'm not worried about anything about PAD I've already read, but I now will feel odd about going and hunting down things that I haven't read already.

But compartmentalization is good. I am def. down with the theory that "It's not what the author says elsewhere, it's what's IN THE TEXT."

...I'm still not capable of reading Dave Sim. Or Orson Scott Card, but that's actually more that the last few things I read by him just Weren't Very Good.

I once saw a preview of a semi-recent book by Card. OMG it was terrible. See also: his Iron Man. But his early stuff, that seems pretty good what I've read.

I wish PAD had either kept his mouth shut or been more willing to listen... like you said about the hunting stuff down, it'll be impossible to read new stuff or rec old stuff without the fail colouring it in an ugly fashion. But his writing, it is still *good*. Dammit :S

...I guess that's a common sentiment around RaceFail. Swap out PAD's name for a list.

IMO, Card definitely did have an early, better period, although you can see the origins of the stuff that would later take over his work.

Although that's also when he wrote the tentacoo wape, so.
