Weirdly, this is something I put together on *Tuesday*.

It's a DCU/Sandman crossover ("crossover"?), which by this point will surprise no one! I should note that regarding directly relevant canon, I've only read the 1988 Martian Manhunter miniseries. But you will still have a hard time convincing me I am *wrong*.

Once upon a time, I was watching the Battlestar Galactica miniseries, thinking that one of the pilots reminded me a lot of Power Girl. Well, give or take a couple, um, *enhancements*. And then another character walked in and called her Kara.

If you don't believe me, look. Here's a picture of Kara Thrace, aka Starbuck which vagabond_sal found me. Here's one of Power Girl, aka Karen Starr, aka Kara-L which Google did.

So then. Technically this meant to be a DCU/BSG crossover, but it's far more towards the BSG side of the scale. (And if it feels unfinished, that's because it is. But I think this bit holds together well enough, at least for a beginning.)

A few days ago, __marcelo was wishing for a crossover between The Legion of Superheroes and... wait for it... the Cable & Deadpool intro pages.

Today I woke up and, for reasons known only to the deep recesses of my brain where I never go without a spork, thought "Yeah, why not?"

( The Story So Far. ) 

Well, I had a strange afternoon today, at least as far as writing goes. I mean, I sat down in front of my computer with the plan to finish a very specific Good Omens fic, and started typing.

And then, a little later, I had to frown at my word processor and say, "Wait a minute, this isn't the particular GO fic I was going for. This isn't even in the right fandom. This isn't even a fandom I've ever written for..."

So I opened a new file and started typing in it. And then, after a while, I realized that I had, again, missed my target. "This is not the particular GO fic I was going for. In fact," said I, "this isn't even in the right fandom. This isn't even a fandom I've ever written for..."

At this point I was sitting on a drabbley Lucifer thing and an odd Smallville ficlet, so I sent them off to daegaer and bravecows's drabble memes, respectively. I couldn't figure out what else they could conceivably be for.

Of course, at this point, I'd written past my daily word count target (unusual, for me), so I debated giving up and having dinner. But then I thought, Nah, one more try.

So I started on another blank page and, um, you might have heard this story before. But, at least, the new fic did have a purpose, because it's pretty much what yonmei requested.

Because if that last thing the generator gave me had to be written because is was bad and dirty and wrong, this one had to be written because it was so, so right obvious perfect.
