I tend to be phenominally critical as well, once I get over the initial rabid *squee!* phase. People often don't understand that I am perfectly willing to plotpick my favorite books/movies/comics/tv shows to shreds and complain viciously about them, and still love them to bits. Criticism and OMGlove! aren't mutually exclusive, for me. (And I think I'm losing my mind, to be using "OMGlove!" and "mutually exclusive" in the same sentence...)

And, yeah, it's one of those songs that just makes you laugh. I don't know if pathetic is quite the word--dated might be it, or horribly, horribly camp, but it's still very amusing; more so because some people actually take objection to it, strongly, for mocking Jesus. (Then again, with lyrics like these, you really can't blame them...)

Once His robe was snowy white,
Now it isn't quite so bright -
Stained by the smoke of my cigar.
If I weave around at night,
And policemen think I'm tight,
They never find my bottle - though they ask.

Plastic Jesus shelters me,
For His head comes off, you see
He's hollow, and I use Him for a flask.

Plastic Jesus! Plastic Jesus,
Riding on the dashboard of my car ...

Ride with me and have a dram
Of the blood of the Lamb -
Plastic Jesus is a holy bar.
