I’ve officially opted out of Christmas this time around (It turns out that you can do that!!)
but I would still like to do something to celebrate the turning over of this year. On a purely personal level, it has been an important year for me, and I am optimistic about 2015. I’ve got off-internet covered, but I don’t want to leave y’all out either - I can’t remember a Before Fandom time in my life.
so I am thinking: teeny teeny gifts, free for the asking. (By teeny I mean the general effort level of limericks or half-drabbles.) If you want to be on my list to receive something like that, let me know.

I decide to go on
I wrote this for tumblr's benefit, but since journal fandom is the one that appreciates the game...
The Character Roulette Meme was a tradition left behind in the fandom move to tumblr, and we are all missing out.
The rules of Character Roulette:
1. Make up a numbered list of 10 to 15 characters and keep it a secret for now.
2. Ask everyone to make up questions, in the form of:
"One forces Two and Seven to get married. Is it a happy marriage?"
"Five, Six and Twelve form a band! What do they call themselves? Are they any good?"
"Why *are* all the other numbers afraid of Seven?"
3. Stop taking questions, and then fill in the names from your list and answer accordingly.
4. Post results.
5. Hilarity ensues.
Hilarity and *really interesting* scenarios that neither you or the question asker would have thought up separately.
Why it is so much fun

The actual mini is now actually happening.
THIS WEEK. (For the first issue. The rest of the issues will also be out this month, though.)
I'm so glad about everything.

Anyway, I took a round of gen shower prompts on tumblr, and I have a couple results that aren't homestuck related!
DS9: ( Kira and Sisko for hannah )
Girl Genius: ( Gil and Tarvek )
....And actually, since I am at it, here are some 3 sentence(ish) breakups:
Girl Genius: ( Axel Higgs/Zeetha )
Comics: ( Clark/Diana for philippos42 )
Also. *Would* anyone be interested in me collecting homestuck prompt meme ficlets over here? I have done a large amount of them, but I assume everyone who has signed up for this journal back when it was more active is... not really.

My (relevant) life goal was "mediocre at ukulele".
I bought a ukulele one week ago exactly, and at this rate I'm going to hit "mediocre" within a month. I already know like 10 chords. I just have to work on my transitions and the B flat chord and the more interesting strumming patterns.

I am not even practicing very hard.
I liked the last part of Barrayar, though, so! Steady on.
It's a signed, illustrated copy of Neil Gaiman's The Ocean at the End of the Lane.
Pictures and instructions at this post, and please note it is closing at the end of October. However, if you want to try, your odds of winning aren't bad at all! (See again: dash full of confused Homestuck fans.)
Overheard initial conversation coming out of the theatre was stuff like "When I stood up, my legs were shaking, like I was in zero G haha" and "I'm dizzy; I wasn't breathing for half the movie." and "I had to go to the bathroom since it started."
These are actual quotes, as nearly as I can transcribe them, which I think says a lot about audience immersion in the movie.
