Some of you, I hardly know. Some of you I think I know well, but I'm sure have the capacity to surprise me still.
So if you're reading this, tell me something about yourself! (Yes, even the people I've known for years. Yes, even the people I've never talked to.) It can be your favourite colour, or a deep, dark secret... or just whatever pops into mind.
Then, when seeing you around, I shall be able to think: "Ah yes, he secretly approves of cilantro" or "Ah, yes, for the first fifteen years of her life, she thought Spiderman and Wonder Woman were the same person."
I'll go first:*
It never occurred to me to be frightened of things as a kid, but once, after watching the Wizard of Oz, a few of my friends decided they were scared of evil witches. Which was silly, I thought, evil witches weren't real, but something about the whole thing still seemed wrong because there were a whole lot of people (almost 5!) frightened of something that wasn't real.
I had a very strange thought, and ran to my father. "If enough people believe in something," I gasped, "can it come true?"
"Yes," he said, probably thinking he was being inspiring or maybe explaining some of the stranger bits of history to me.
I spent the next few days very very nervous, trying to figure out if enough people believed in toilet missiles or bears.
*I'm shamelessly recycling this fact from the earlier meme, although I think there's only one or two people who might have seen it. But if you're among them, ask and I'll provide a new one.
