Caia: What if Comet the Super-Horse was secretly a giant alien robot!
Karen: There we go!
Caia: I think it is probably easier for Transformers to have sex with Kryptonians than humans.
Caia: They are less squishy.
Karen: But still *teeny*.
Karen: Although I guess a horse-bot wouldn't unfold too large?
Caia: Probably not, although.
Caia: ....scale and Transformers don't necessarily mix very well.
Karen: *thinks of movie* ... no. good point.
Caia: And in the live-action movies, they were at least trying to make the scale issues make sense.
Karen: They *were*?
Caia: Well. There were fewer instances of "Giant robot turns to gun, is held and fired by other giant robot," "Giant robot turns into tape player, slightly smaller giant robots turn into mini-cassettes," or "Not nearly that giant robot turns into space shuttle, carries several other giant robot inside of it" than in the old cartoon.
Caia: They weren't trying very hard.
Karen: aha. Do the cassettes *play*
Caia: Yes! They work as spies, going into the other base and recording thing. And then they can be played either in their cassette tape player or in another computer/tape player.
Caia: Sometimes the tape player is in a car that is also a robot.
Karen: :(
Caia: :( ?
Karen: Stuff is *recorded on them*. As *tapes*
Caia: Yes!
Karen: D:
Caia: I'm sorry.
Caia: I shouldn't have mentioned this.
Karen: I can accept them working as cars, Caia.
Karen: I think that is big of me.
Karen: I could maybe accept one pretending to be a tape player and going "do do do do"
Caia: Karen, you accept Comet the Super-Horse!
Karen: Comet the Superhorse fits right into the rules of his universe!
Karen: I dunno. I guess... maybe if the robot has a piece which is made of tape-material?
Karen: film.
Caia: Well, they have little holes in them for the tape player rolly-things.
Caia: I assume they have film.
Karen: yes, but I mean. I guess a robot in the shape of a tape with tape-film would work like a tape works.
Karen: But a tape is *all* film.
Karen: Maybe it is only a little bit of film, and the robot is constantly rewriting it with audio data it has recorded in its memory so it will play like a cassette?
Caia: Whatever gets you through the night, Karen.

And here I am debating bringing up furry macrophiles as an example of a fandom that has considered such size differences.

Ah and here is a pretty funny essay about the fandom, with one NOT SAFE but funny illustration.

Link is NSFW, but harmless in my opinion.

*snerk* I like Winger's stuff because it's all done with a wink and a nod.

Betty! Yesterday I discovered someone had drawn a gender-swapped Booster Gold hawking Contex Tampons (http://scans-daily.dreamwidth.org/1089138.html?#cutid1)! AND I THOUGHT YOU SHOULD BE MADE AWARE.

furry macrophiles
That's an intersection I haven't come across before...

(Tangentially, and irrelevantly, I am always confused briefly when people bring up "furry fandom". Surely, I think to myself, it is more of an identity/orientation?)

Hm...good point about the name. I'm not that into it so I don't know what's what to be honest.

Yeah, me neither, I dunno. I just over-think terminology sometimes and end up confused.

So, uh, the giant robot that turns into a microscope isn't something you want to hear about, huh?

That giant robot that turns into a gun? Fired by a human once! Yep.
