Hay guys [personal profile] red_eft drew me an Amanda Waller! Check it! This fandom thing is *aces*.

ALSO, if you have a dreamwidth account, let me know? I'm not planning on stopping crossposting in the near future, but LJ's recent business practises have skeeved me considerably.

(Yet I still have a paid account, because the thought of lj showing ads on my entries sends me into a panic. I suspect I will have to burn the furniture before locking the door here.)

Anyway, I'd like to start managing my DW reading list properly, so link 'em if you've got 'em! If you *don't* got 'em, but you'd like to, I have 6 invite codes just sitting around.

Yet I still have a paid account, because the thought of lj showing ads on my entries sends me into a panic.

Let me tell you how much FUN it was to have LJ start playing full-screen ads with sound on random entries. I thought I was going nuts, or had a virus, or had pop-ups open that were hiding on my taskbar . . . nope! Just random ads showing up on random tabs when I re-loaded Firefox. CREEPED ME OUT.

I'm curious about this one, because I've heard about it, but not actually seen it. Is it a "not having AdBlock" thing? A Plus Account thing? Both?

My account lapsed to basic for several weeks earlier this month, and I didn't see any advertising at all, but, well. AdBlock. And Basic.

To be honest, I have no idea what AdBlock is, so that could be a factor.

I let my paid account lapse back to a Basic about a year or so ago, and just recently I have started getting full-page ads on random pages. The page will be entirely greyed out, with the statement "when the ad ends you will be returned to your LiveJournal experience" or somesuch. Usually I am able to X out of the ad before it starts playing, but when I don't know which tab is playing it . . . *hands*

The first one was when I was viewing my own userinfo page. Then it started to occur on other people's info pages, other pages in the console area, and now journal entries. Most recently, I believe, it happened when loading my flist one day. It's such a headache, I'm just avoiding most of LJ altogether at this point.

Dude, I would totally take one of those DW codes off your hands! Openid is good in theory but rather poor in practice.

I don't know what LJ is thinking.

milkshake_b, same as here, but I haven't done anything with it yet because I haven't yet found a way to import my style over wholesale--it's not that I'm that in love with my layout (well, except for the art and the colors, so I guess I kind of am), it's that if I'm breaking in a new system I'd like as much continuity from the old as possible. Change and I haven't been getting along lately, which I suspect is probably par for what I've got.
