It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a fangirl in possession of an extra pair of canvas shoes, must be in want of something to do with them.

(I'm not sure how I keep accidentally ending up with extraneous shoes, but I suppose there are worse curses.)

 


Homestuck has gone some way to appeasing me recently, so it seemed the obvious choice. (Bonus trivia: while I was finishing these this morning, the mail came with a John Egbert t-shirt for me. I am looking *so coordinated* right now.)



The colours are a bit wonky in the pictures. Eg, the angry squiddle is a lovely lavender, not grey, and John's ghost is more lime. Mixing colours isn't something I've gone since elementary school, but mostly it turned out ok!



Back view. If you look carefully, you can see where I tried to get rid of a paint smudge. This is the problem with doing stuff at 3am: when I'm done with the paintbrush, I tend to just *drop it*. So many smudges on these shoes. So many painting errors. *sigh*



Laces. I was going to use exciting rainbow laces, but they were so exciting they distracted from the shoes themselves. And black was boring, so white it is.

I spent more minutes than I'd like to admit trying to lace them in a double helix pattern that didn't look terrible, but alas it was not to be.

It would probably depend on the color of the shoes, but if they were gray a pattern based on the Weighted Companion Cube and if they were dark blue the SHIELD logo. I'm nothing if not predictable.

Sounds pretty cool. The Cube patten would take *planning*, though, to make sure the pattern wrapped around properly.

Actually, I don't think it would be that difficult. There would have to be some sketching beforehand to ensure that the lines didn't get all wobbly, but the basic gist itself is pretty simple.

Ooh, see, now I'm tempted. But I don't have the shoes. I'll cling to that for now.
