I feel like writing poems, but I don't have any in me at the moment. Weird and frustrating.

So!

Give me a topic, get a poem! Non-fannish stuff is ok, and so is fannish (if I'm familiar with it).

I have SCC on the brain! Tell me about a character or characters of your choice. (I can make a more specific request if you like.)

Wowow, hot damn. Tell me who you were thinking of for the first two stanzas? Are they all the same character? (John?)

Also, I would like to rec this somewhere - would you like to title it, or is it cool if I rec it untitled?

I totally want a poem about Lyrl and his mom.

Or maybe one about Vril, because Vril + poetry = ???

Now Vril Dox II is from Colu where they grow their people green
And Vril's been burned but boy he's earned his reputation mean
Much of his fame is from the name he inherited pre-tainted
And so to spite his own birthright he set out to be sainted

Then in his soul he set a goal of peace across the 'verse
But the peace he brings always makes things many magnitudes of worse
See, he viewed the ground that spins around each glowing gaseous ball
And Vril's decree was that he'd be the biggest bastard on it all

I've read this to myself (and out loud) several times now, and I think it gets more awesome each time. WTF? This is glorious. I am dying.

Yay!

WTF?
It is, uh, written with apologies to Robert Service! I don't know if there's a name for the form, but if you'd gone to a Canadian elementary school it would be drilled into your skull.

No, I'm not sure we ever covered poetry. Except maybe haiku. Obviously I have been deprived.

How did you avoid having to read "The Cremation of Sam McGee" over and over and over to see just *how* many ways you could trip over the metre?!!

I'm not sure "deprived" is the word ;p

I'm not Canadian!

Maybe we would've had time for it if I hadn't spent so much time arguing with the teacher that it was totally okay to start sentences with "And."

Ah! Okay. I didn't think so, but then I misunderstood your last comment as "Yes, I went to a Canadian elementary school, but we didn't have to memorize this poem."

And I start SO MANY sentences with "and". :) So I'm on your side there. But I suppose it's a moot point now. ;)
