I've written another drabble. There was a vaguely coherent motive for this, but by the time I'd done the drabble I'd forgotten it.

X-men again, despite the icon. This really won't make sense unless you've seen X2. It's about all I can hope for that it'll make sense if you have.

Becuase there are happy endings, for some.

William Stryker opens his eyes. The dream fades, and it’s morning.

In the kitchen, Kyla’s at the coffee-mate, swearing softly. She finally passes him a cup of instant made.

His throat hurts when he swallows, but it passes.

Jason looks up; and for a moment his eyes are shadowed and he’s old - but then he grins and goes back to poking at his Froot Loops. William ruffles his hair in greeting, and takes the seat facing the window. There’s snow on the other side of the glass.

His wife settles beside him, and he kisses her back.

And he smiles.

.. but, he died.
Yes, he did. That was the point, really.

So, you liked the bit with the Phoenix, did you? I wasn't quite sure.

Oh, right. I guess I didn't get it then :). I thought maybe if his son had you know, yeah.

Anyway :)

And I did like the phoenix thing, I'm glad they found some way to work that bit in. When I saw the fire in her eyes throughout the movie I was hoping they'd go all the way with it :). Yeah, see? I'm a bit of a comic book geek too.
