I am going through the solicits in case I want to make fun of them as is my hobby, and what do I come across but this:

WHY THE HELL IS THIS THING STILL BEING MARKETED AS THEIR "WHITE POWER RING." I KNOW THE PROBLEM HERE HAS BEEN POINTED OUT TO THEM. SERIOUSLY, WHAT THE HELL.

How hard would it be to market it as “White Lantern Power Ring”, really?

I mean, it's not like there's a “Green Power Ring” in comics anyway.

Sorry, I rarely lie about comics. I rarely have to.

Eg, also in the recent solicits: Bizarro Supergirl/Bizarro Superboy while a watching Kory giggles in approval.

At the risk of being super-racist, I like to combine the Black Dude Dies First (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BlackDudeDiesFirst) trope with the idea that "the white power ring can bring the dead back to life" and laugh and laugh and laugh, because fuck DC. Fuck'em all.

Well, the black one is evil zombie powers or something, so... yeah.

They are writing up some solicits!

They put up a poll on certain forums I will not name in a googlable place and found that a huge percentage of those polled were totally interested buying a White Power Ring!

...You know that if they were selling a "BLACK POWER RING", every white conservative pundit from Bill O'Lielly to Glenn Feck would be howling about it within 48 hours, and the head of the marketing department fired within 72 hours.
To them and to so many other people, there's no such thing as 'White Power'; that's just the status quo, and there's nothing wrong iwth it at all.

Actually...There is a black lantern ring, and I didn't actually go back and check if it was also marketed as a "Black Power Ring". (Its power is to turn corpses into evil zombies that make people go mad and kill each other, instead of bringing them back to life. Or however it works. I didn't read much of the storyline.) I am way more D: about the "White Power Ring", though.

Me: *explains to friend*
Friend: Hey, a dead guy's the person with the white ring, right?
Me: Deadman, yes.
Friend: I guess he should be wearing the traditional ghost garb then, too?
Me: *thud*

From: [identity profile] odditycollector.livejournal.com

That is. That's.

I kind of wish that was actually a thing. Deadman, dressed in traditional ghost garb, fighting evil with his White Power Ring. While DC Editorial blinks confusedly back at con panels and goes, "Uh-huh, so what?"

Tell your friend they are amazing.
