You know, when I read π(n), I don't think "function!" I think they want me to multiply n by π. I probably wasted twenty seconds figuring out what it wanted to mean, and those are twenty seconds I could have wasted by traditional means.

It's the same with things like Φ(n). I don't think "potential," I think "Oooo. Phi."

Yes. My concerns are academic and slightly surreal.

Anyway, when this lab gets out, I think I'm going to go to the comic shop. Because I've still got a while to procrastinate through, how about a chance to have very little impact on my spending (although you never know. I'm easily convinced).

[Poll #443704]

Well, that was fun. I think I'll have to get back into the habit of random, pointless polls.

Pst, if you want Murder Mysteries, I can e-mail it to you in .cbr format.

It took the graphic novel to link his not being able to remember much about the ex-girlfriend and Raguel burning off his sin.

That story is so beautiful

Aw, jeez, you spoiled me!

(Nah, kidding.)

But it's a lot more coherent in the illustrated format, isn't it?

I actually only figured that out a few months ago, several reads after my first go-around. It's pretty easy to miss, I think. I'm still not sure why the narrator did what he did, but it's really cool nevertheless.

Thanks, I appreciate the offer, but I, um, already have it like that. (I'm kind of addicted to DC++, and also $20-$30 is a *lot* to invest in a book if you're not sure you like it yet. *proud of rationalization skills*)

How does DC++ work, anyway? I keep on hearing its name being bandied about, but buggered if I know what it is/does.

It's a filesharing program, conceptually more similar to Kazaa than bittorrent in that you connect to one person at a time. It's good for finding smaller files, like single issues of comic books, or songs. (For movies and tv shows and entire comic book runs, however, bittorrent is better.)

You need to how to find your ip address, and what sort of hub you're looking for (ie, if you want comics, you go to a hub for sharing comics) and you usually have to have a certain amount of relevent data shared yourself (for my favourite comics hub, it's 5Gb) so there's less a problem of leeching. It's pretty handy, actually.
