Two aliens, one red and one blue were playing tag around a yellow star. The blue alien was winning, and the red one, angry, grabbed a small space rock and threw it hard at the blue one, puncturing the balloon-like creature. The blue alien went POP, and the red one went, "Oh, FUCK," and ran away.
The gravity of the rock was enough to capture a small smount of the murdered alien's gaseous innards, and eventually it settled into orbit.
